On Oct. 23, the national immigration administration（NIA) held a press conference in Beijing to optimize the 144 hour visa free transit policy for foreigners in Zhejiang, Chongqing, Sichuan and Shaanxi.

What does the 144-hour visa-free transit mean?
For example, foreign passengers with a flight ticket and visa to a third country in transit to the third country via the Guangzhou can stay in Guangdong for up to 144 hours without a Chinese visa.

This new policy start from Dec.1st, 2019, the transit visa-free stay for eligible foreigners at chongqing and xi 'an aviation ports will be extended to 144 hours.
The 144-hour transit visa-free policy has been implemented at ningbo aviation port and has been integrated into the policies of jiangsu, zhejiang and Shanghai. Transit personnel may enter or leave ningbo air port and Shanghai sea, land and airport ports that have implemented the 144-hour transit visa-free policy, or nanjing air port and hangzhou air port.
The 144-hour visa-free stay at chengdu aviation ports will be extended to 11 cities, including chengdu, leshan, deyang, suining, meishan, ya 'an, ziyang, neijiang, zigong, luzhou and yibin.

Which city ports are suitable for?
After the policy was expanded,23 cities in 18 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government), In general, 30 ports have implemented 144-hour and 72-hour visa-free transit policies for 53 countries.
